Heating Repair Quick Tips
Here are some simple things you can check on if your heating system is not working:
Change The Filter
Most basic filters should be changed every month unless you have a high efficiency filter designed to be changed once a year. If the filter is clogged it can prevent the flow of air causing your system to stop working.
Flip The Switch
Is there an emergency shut off switch at the top of your basement steps? Some systems have an emergency shut off switch in place for emergencies or maintenance that typically looks like a standard light switch except it has a red cover. If the switch was unintentionally turned off, the system will not work.
Heat or Cool?
Depending on the setting on your thermostat, your system may be confused on whether to heat or cool. This is especially common as we switch from using either heating or cooling when the seasons change. Ensuring your thermostat is set to the correct function depending on your comfort goals can be the difference between a functioning and nonfunctioning system.
