Keep your air cool & clean

Air conditioning is an essential part of your home, not only for comfortability but also for indoor air quality. Air conditioning works to keep your home cool and conditioned, but also works to remove dust, pollutants and contaminants through filtering. When something within your air conditioning system is on the fritz your comfortability and air quality can suffer.

Air conditioners can fail for any number of reasons from electrical wiring, clogged filters or ducts or even something more serious like a cracked internal part. Older, leaky systems can also lose refrigerant over time causing them to be unable to cool.

If you’re finding that your home isn’t as comfortable as it should be the expert team at Paramount Plumbing, Heating and air conditioning can get you back on track.

Air Conditioning Repair Quick Tips

Here are some simple things you can check on if your air conditioning system is not working:

Change The Filter

Most basic filters should be changed every month unless you have a high efficiency filter designed to be changed once a year. If the filter is clogged it can cause the AC Coil to freeze which will prevent the system from working.

Flip The Switch

Is there an emergency shut off switch at the top of your basement steps? Some systems have an emergency shut off switch in place for emergencies or maintenance that typically looks like a standard light switch except it has a red cover. If the switch was unintentionally turned off, the system will not work.

Heat or Cool?

Depending on the setting on your thermostat, your system may be confused on whether to heat or cool. This is especially common as we switch from using either heating or cooling when the seasons change. Ensuring your thermostat is set to the correct function depending on your comfort goals can be the difference between a functioning and nonfunctioning system.
